"It is important for students to be exposed to their ABC's at an early age...children learn in steps and build their knowledge using what they have learned. Now, children are placed in a faster learning environment and they are expected to learn a great deal of information in a short amount of time. So is a student is exposed to quality education materials early on it is beneficial for their success in kindergarten. This video uses many important teaching strategies that we as teachers incorporate into our curriculum. It uses predictable text and familiar pictures such as animals and concrete objects (balloons , ladder ). The use of realia ( real objects ) in the picture cards allow children to make connections between the letter, sound and picture which is prephonic, eventually leading to reading ( early literacy ). The letters out of alphabetical order helped in children's letter recognition an important step in learning to read. Overall, this video is a wonderful tool that parents can use with their children, they can pause the video to enhance certain spots and the length and timing of the video is perfect, it is not too fast or slow."
